Deborah Colker
The
choreographer had an eclectic background as a psychology student,
pianist, professional volleyball player, dancer, teacher and movement
director before founding her dance company in 1993, for which she
has created a wide range of pieces.
Made up of 16 dancers, Companhia de Dança Deborah Colker
uses classical technique as the basis for its language, supplemented by
contemporary technique, constantly reworked in new investigations. It
is technique in the service of simplicity, and of beauty.
Colker's works are the
results of aesthetic questioning. Her choreography marries physically audacious work
with high-concept design.
